Geotechinal factors are considered into excavation ability both in land or sea soil layer. This research area located in Block 1 BWD Kundur 1, and known has a potential calculated tin mineral. This research was conducted to determine geological conditions, the physical properties of soil, and the role of SPT value in excavation ability of the research area.
The research method used is by drilling followed by the SPT test. These SPT sampels were taken for testing the physical properties in laboratory. The drilling result were found are mud, weak plastic clay, semi-plastic clay, coarsely fine sand, and gravely fine sand. The SPT values found has a variety results. The physical properties of soil are CH, CL, SW dan SC withsoil bulk density from 1,5 until 2,2 t/m3. These SPT result values can be corrected dan can be correlated with the mechanical properties of soil. The variations of SPT result vaules shown a changing pattern of depositional environment Quartenary age sediments. The depth factors affecting the SPT value, deeper SPT taken, higher value read. The physical properties of soil and the other factors are made SPT values corrected into N70. The unsuitable of the soil rate removal can be caused by the incompability with the SPT values of soils.
