Expansive soil characteristics can be traced to calculate the activity rate. Effects of expansive soil will affect the soil bearing capacity, and can spread to other environmental problems, such as damage to buildings, damage to roads, slope in-stability and other infrastructures. This paper discusses the relationship of activity with soil bearing capacity, and explaining about soil conditions at research area. The activity value (A) and soil bearing capacity (qa) for shallow foundation types are calculated, and be determined the relationship between the activity and the soil bearing capacity. The result showed negative coefficient correlation in Power’s regression equation. Negative correlation indicates that the increasing activity value (A), resulting in a decreasing in soil bearing capacity. To predict the soil bearing capacity (qa) rapidly, then estimation can be simplified by calculating the activity value (A). In infrastructure planning, foundation design requires safety factors in accordance with soil bearing capacity to avoid the failure of the foundation. Innovative solutions through a combination of technical aspects and some of the methods showed significant measures to tackle the problem, for example by soil improvement.
