Abstract
The area of sulitair village located in the west of the district solok western sumatra province, Indonesia . acccording geographically located between the coordinates 00 34 ’00’ ‘- 00 40’ 00 ” S and 1000 38 ’00’ ‘- 1000 48′ 00 ” E . The area of research is in the ombilin basin which fore-arc a basin of the sumatra subduction zone fault system . The fault was formed cause of depression result from subduction zone has result in the formation of lumps (blocks) on the fault at bed-rock . Fault at this stage has impact occurrence for half-graben formed as early ombilin basin formation. The development of regional tectonic sulitair village has gives an overview of morphological hills with elevation 280-600 mdpl. The one of formation in the ombilin basin is sawahtambang formation which consists of siltstone, sandstone found from the north to the southeast of the sulitair village. The calcareous sandstone in this area have size of coarse sand to fine sand. Wood fossil at the researce area was typicaly sandstone non carbonate of sawahtambang formation with relative age in oligosen period..Data collection was done using petrological analysis of samples taken in the field, and then determine the direction of the spread calcareous sandstone as determination of zones of potential mining
