Mamberamo”B”Formation is dominated by claystone, shale and sandstone which deposited in fluvial,
deltaic and batial environment. Laterally, this formation distributed in along Northern coastal of eastern
Papua Islands. Analysis of facies and environment of Mamberamo “B”formation is to know and
understand the development of facies and depositional environment that will be source rock type in
North Papua basin. The study was carried out by using surface geological data such as measurement of
stratigraphic profile section, paleontology and petrography analysis. The result of facies and depositional
environment analysis indicates that the Mamberamo Formation is transition or tidal flat environment
which cointans several facies, namely: Cross bedding sandstone facies (Subtidal), Wavy silty shale facies
(Intra-Tidal), Lenticular shale facies (Intra-Tidal), and Corbonaceous shale facies (Supra-Tidal).
